Government Bans 47 More Chinese Apps in India

Last month Government of India has banned 59 Chinese apps including TikTok and UCbrowser. Today the government of India has banned 47 more Chinese apps.

The list of particular apps banned recently is yet to be announced. We have also reported that more 275 apps are on the radar and the government may ban them as well. The list also includes Tencent-backed gaming app PUBG.

According to some internal sources some top gaming Chinese applications are also expected to be banned in the new list. These Chinese applications have been sharing data with Chinese agencies.

The ban comes amid an apprehensive dirty political climate between the two countries. In addition to that India tightens rules for Chinese companies to invest in India.

According to a tweet posted by DD News, The 47 apps that have been banned today are the clones of the 59 apps that were banned last month. The government communication stated that apps were banned in the exercise of the sovereign powers and Section 69A of the Information Technology Act.

This is considered as India’s second digital strike on China. The fresh list of banned apps is yet to be announced.
